Under the radar: Royaljag

Yo Inland Empire stand up! If yall haven’t already heard yet, there’s a new rock band making waves in LA. They’ve already gained recognition from KROQ opening for Hunny the band’s residency at the Bootleg Theatre as well as shared the stage with local favorite Maudlin Strangers. Meet San Bernadino’s own, Royaljag. This 4 piece experimental dreamgaze band consists of twins Jay and Roland Garcia (vocals/guitar and bass), David Ajoku (keys), and Taylor Haenny (drums).

In my opinion, their sound is very reminiscent of Local Natives style vocal melodies meets Young the Giant’s musicianship and the influence definitely stands out on their super dancy debut single “Jungle”. The band is currently gearing up to start recording their forthcoming debut EP later this month. No set release date for the EP just yet but you can look forward to a live performance video being released via Balcony TV later next month.
