MY RULES : OPENING NIGHT
As more bodies joined the queue to enter Glen E. Friedman’s first London show in almost 20 years you could sense the buzz of the crowd pulling the chill straight out of the November air. Most of the queue had grown up with the artists and icons that have been immortalised in Glen’s work and most were about to see his work in person for the first time ever.
Documenting the decades has given Glen E. Friedman a following that is as diverse as it is expert and it was a privilege to float through the gallery with a camera watching everyone’s reaction to iconic photographs of their heroes. From kids with skateboards to old dudes with beards everyone seemed to be consumed by the photographs that serve as a thumbnail for each entire subculture.
