JUST ANOTHER DAY, AMSTERDAM 1980

Wir sind die Holländer (Yes indeed… We Are The Dutch!) is a two month Dutch take over in the city center of Berlin. Initiated by music agency Sizzer Amsterdam and HALAL Film And Photography as a two month temporary office in the Berlin OBEY Showroom. Throughout April and May they will invite different players from the current creative and entrepreneurial Dutch landscape for exhibitions, dinners, parties and other shenanigans.

Halal Film and Photography, Sizzer Amsterdam and OBEY Clothing invited Amsterdam based punk- skatestore Independent Outlet to host a weekend at the OBEY showroom in Berlin. For their Wir Sind Die Holländer event the bossman Aziz is showcasing one of the biggest riots ever to hit Amsterdam around the eviction of a squat in the Vondelstraat back in 1980. With pictures shot by his dad Mo Badrane and a radio show about the squat-riots with a raw soundtrack that fits this wind of time perfectly.

About the photographer Mo Badrane 1931-2011

Born in Casablanca as a single child of a garage owner. Through his job working for Royal Air Maroc he ended up finding love in Amsterdam in 1964. Photography and painting were his big passions the later half of his life, with a very unique style and DIY-attitude.
