Father Futureback's Music For Running
I like running, it helps me to clear my head and overthink stuff and it’s a nice break from working. I’ve got a lot of energy and I just got to let some of it out a couple of times in the week. When my knees feel like it I and if it ain’t raining, I’m OUT THERE! Otherwise I go to the gym which is pretty close to my house and always filled with fools! I’m not a competitive runner, and I always keep a steady pace. Typical days for me to go out for a run are tuesday, friday and sunday.
When I go for a run on a tuesday it usually is around 10 in the morning. I live in the city center of The Hague, The Netherlands, there’s always a lot of people and traffic so this means there also are many many bogus attitudes. I usually run to the Haagse Bos (The Hague forest) which looks really nice no matter what season and is peaceful and quiet. On tuesday I usually go for a more up-tempo playlist with some metal, heavy electronic music or hip hop. Excellent albums for a tuesday are:
– Deathhammer : Evil Power (Hell’s Headbangers records) = perfect nostalgic thrash metal with maniacal vocals
– Cannibal Ox : The Cold Vein (Def Jux) = one of my fav hip hop albums ever made. Hectic claustrophobic big city music.
High School was very important for my musical taste… I used to make theses tapes with cd’s I would borrow from the public library. One of the tapes would have Slayer’s Divine Intervention on the A-side and Pork Soda by Primus after that. This was also the time that I got into Cannibal Corpse and Type O Negative. So playing those albums while running around my old high school is pretty sick.
I don’t always find the time to make my own playlists so occasionaly I just download some hour-long mixes by local music absorbing freaks like Young Marco, Tako, Abel & Calypso Steve from Red Light Records and last but not least Orpheu The Wizard.
