Studio Visit: Knickerbocker Mfg.
Recently OBEY got the chance to visit the Brooklyn compound of essential workwear and fundamental utilitarian wardrobe with the guys at Knickerbocker Mfg. With a tour from owner, AJ Livingston and fellow chainstitch partner & friend, Brian Blakely, they showed us that true craftmanship still exists today.
Originally founded as a private label manufacturing company to work with fellow designers and makers to provide an essential communal collaborative movement, owner AJ eventually built his compound into a brand of his own. Built in 2012, Knickerbocker Mfg was founded as its own brand to service the community as a whole, and provide goods on a collective level.
Attributing their foundation and beliefs, “to build something bigger than yourself, to build something that genuinely means as much to others as it does to you,” we found something greater than just apparel at Knickerbocker, but instead, a movement with beliefs foregoing compromise with fast fashion or makeshift integrity.
Check out the visit to the compound!
Always excited to have new friends join the OBEY community, we are stoked to showcase Knickerbocker and encourage you to check out their story & product.
