McRad

I was going to write a long history of McRad and my experiences involving Chuck Treece but I can’t seem to get my thoughts in order as I get all giddy just thinking about it. To keep it short, Chuck is good at everything he does. He is a great skateboarder. He is a great musician playing with everyone from Billy Joel to Bad Brains to Sting to Stiffed (Santi Gold) and a whole lot more.

Also, Chuck must be one of the nicest guys in the world. He got my brother and I into a Goats show in Philly when we were about 15 in a 21 up bar. We were just some punk kids from New Jersey and we had never met before that night. I’ve gotten to hang out with him on a number of occasion’s since and it never ceases to amaze me what a special individual he is. I could go on but I’ll stop there… except for the time I found a mint copy of McRad’s first record Dominant Force in a Salvation Army in Newark, DE in college with the original crack and peel sticker in it. We hope you enjoy and special thanks to Eric Pritchard and Greg Roman for getting this laced up for our site.

“We’re very proud to present a new video feature on the seminal skate punk band from Philadelphia, McRad. Fronted by the multi-talented Chuck Treece, McRad rose to prominence after being featured on the CR Stecyk and Stacey Peralta skate movie Public Domain. Director Eric Pritchard chronicles the history of McRad and their place in skate history. Click HERE to check the video out.”
