What's the deal with all this rain? Due to the forecast of rain on Friday night we've decided to postpone the party until Friday April 1st. No, it's not an April Fools joke! Sorry for the inconvenience but it's an outdoor event and I don't want to catch no sniffles.

I recently took a trip the Philippines to visit the farms, fields and rivers of Isabela where my mother spent her childhood.. where caribou replace cars and the scenery surges with self-sustainability and culture. It's amazing how much I was able to accomplish in 8 hours when I wasn't a slave to my computer. Here are some photos from my stay.. see more here.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Kevin Skibba of Gremmie Skateboards recently. Ever since I came across his boards at Thalia this past summer I have been carving around the neighborhood and keeping an eye out on his blog. Roam and I caught up with Shepard this week, prepping for this Saturday's album cover art show opening in Santa Monica. Â Shepard's had a long history of creating album covers for up-and-coming underground artists to the greatest hits box sets of classic Rock bands as well his own imprint, OBEY Records. What do you get when you have 9 people sitting around the office with nothing to do, and one of them so happens to have a tattoo gun and is in need of practice?
The game's pretty simple. Each person submits 3 drawings the size of a post-it note. The group picks 1 of the 3 collectively and throws it in a hat. Each person then pulls from the hat and the drawing picked goes right on their body. Easy enough? yep. Oh... and there's one kicker, the tattoo artist just got a gun for X-Mas and has never actually tattoo'd anybody else ever. How exciting.....

I was going to write a long history of McRad and my experiences involving Chuck Treece but I can't seem to get my thoughts in order as I get all giddy just thinking about it. To keep it short, Chuck is good at everything he does. He is a great skateboarder. He is a great musician playing with everyone from Billy Joel to Bad Brains to Sting to Stiffed (Santi Gold) and a whole lot more. Also, Chuck must be one of the nicest guys in the world. He got my brother and I into a Goats show in Philly when we were about 15 in a 21 up bar. We were just some punk kids from New Jersey and we had never met before that night. I've gotten to hang out with him on a number of occasion's since and it never ceases to amaze me what a special individual he is. I could go on but I'll stop there... except for the time I found a mint copy of McRad's first record Dominant Force in a Salvation Army in Newark, DE in college with the original crack and peel sticker in it. We hope you enjoy and special thanks to Eric Pritchard and Greg Roman for getting this laced up for our site.

This past Friday night, Subliminal Projects hosted the Too Fast to live, Too Fast to Die show. The show was comprised of a mix of classic punk rock flyers and posters along with paintings and photography. Despite the crazy downpour of rain that night, there was an excellent turnout. "Long before I knew about art galleries or even street art, I was excited about album cover art, if only because it was the visual counterpart to the music on the records I loved.  Album covers conjured a euphoric association with the listening experience. Most of my earliest home-made tee shirts were stencils based on punk album covers. I’ve had some very moving encounters with art in my life, especially in the street, but almost nothing can compare with the first time I heard the boots marching and first chord of the Sex Pistols’ Holidays in the Sun, or the air raid sirens leading into “too black, too strong†on the intro to Public Enemy’s It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, or the opening guitar scream of Black Flag's Rise Above. Those songs did, and still do, make my arm hairs stand up. Music is visceral and accessible, but also  has the additional powerful layers of the lyrics, with their content and politics, and the style,politics, and personalities of the musicians themselves. No matter how much I love art, or try to convince myself of its relevance in society, the fact remains that music is a lot cooler and way more able to reach people's hearts and minds... but I'm a populist and I look at this way: I may not play an instrument, but I'm gonna rock it hard as nails anyway. With my art I try to capture the same energy and spirit that makes music so powerful and democratic. REVOLUTIONS is a celebration of all the great music and accompanying art that has inspired me over the years."
