  • Sticker Kit Print

Dave and Holly Combs are wonderful people as well as the founders of PEEL Zine. They took the risk of following their artistic passion and have paid the price of losing their home. I created this print with and for them to raise money to help with their huge debt. PEEL has helped to support and grow the street art community and I believe they deserve to have the favor returned. Profits from this print go to help the Combs family. Please help out. -Shepard

The Sticker Kit Print will go on sale 10/6 at a Random Time, Limit 1. Edition of 450, 18×24, S/N, $45.

The unveiling of exclusive OBEY x PEEL poster by Shephard Fairey for Peel Magazine (authors of MBP’s PEEL: The Art of the Sticker) will take place at the first Mark Batty Publisher (MBP) Urban Arts Fest: a full day dedicated to the thriving urban arts community MBP has advocated since its inception. With skateboard demos, live graffiti writing, installations, music and DJs, open bar dance party at night, and plenty of art and books for sale, there will be something for everyone! The non-profit beneficiary is Art for Progress, which supports rising multi-discipline arts in New York City.

  • Bon Iver in the cemetery

First off thanks go out to Jon Halperin from the Glasshouse and Brian from the Troubadour for getting me into this show. I'm totally getting laid for like the next year for taking the old lady to this.

Second, this show was freaking awesome. It was one of the strangest and most incredible things I've ever experienced. My girlfriend Stella and I went to the Bon Iver show on Friday thanks to the wonderful Brad from MEGAFAUN. Megafaun and Bon Iver are old timey friends and from the looks of it, are really enjoying their time on the road together. Anyway, Saturday night or Sunday morning Bon Iver was scheduled to play at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery at sunrise. They screen movies at night there in the summertime there but this was next level.

We met up at my house before the show and had a couple of beers before heading down to the cemetery at about 12:30. It was Stella, her bestest mate Donna, asian sensation Steve Lee in tow, myself and Brad from Megafaun. We stopped and picked up a couple tallboy Bud Limes and some cool cool Coors Lights, some snacks and waters and made our way into the show.

Not to sound like some cliched hippy or anything but the crowd was just perfect, very respectful, welcoming and all around great. Brad showed us a good spot to set up knowing where everything was since it was pitched black out and we were clueless. Bottle Rocket was just about to start playing on a wall across the way. Everyone had their blankets set up and were hunkering down for a long evening. Bon Iver was scheduled to go on at sunrise (5:30ish I think) I dozed off somewhere in the middle of Bottle Rocket because I hadn't slept more than 5 hours in the last 3 days and woke up to monks chanting.

CJ (also from OBEY) was at the show and that's his sweet monk shot. Neither of us seemed to get very good nighttime shots but here's some of what we got.

At 5 something am they went on.

I wish our photos did it more justice but oh well.

Sun rising. It was so misty and by morning the fog was hanging between all the graves and you felt kind of grimey... but in a good way.

Here's a little video from the cemetary show with Bon Iver and Megafaun playing together.

    Last song.

On the way out we walked by the legendary...

  • New York groove and Disney dreams

Chris and I rolled to the city of New York last week to show off our new duds to all the fashion editors. Spring 10 is right around the corner after all. I'm not going to show anything too close up yet but you can see a couple things to wet the old whistle.

I found some photos in my camera from my nephews 1st birthday a few weeks ago so I might as well post them too. Since my Mom and Dad are probably reading this I know at least 2 people are interested in hearing about this. My sister in law works at a bourgie Hollywood salon and worked some deal to rent a Disney themed house down by Disneyland. Not only that but she got us reservations to Club 33. I know nothing about Disneyland, had never been there before but realized when we got there I guess it's a big deal going to Club 33. Food was so-so but they serve booze, apparently the only spot in Disneyland. A bunch of nerds sit outside waiting for someone to open the front door to have a look in, you definitely feel like a snob but who cares we were at Club 33. The tables around us were thrilled to have two, 1 year old children sitting beside them. That's what waiting 14 years to get a membership gets you.

What the WIKI WIKI has to say

    The lift up.

    Classy!

This kind of blew my mind. My nephew or his bud Weston who came along too had never see Disney characters before but both freaked out when they saw Mickey and Pluto.

Happy Birthday Sawyer, you're one swank little dude.

  • Paris Detour

As I stay in the Benelux region this week, Jon joined Shepard and crew to Paris to snap some shots of all the going ons... everything france. Here's what he emailed me...

    Fondation Cartier

    Street Shots

Getting back to Amsterdam was tougher than Jon thought, actually. After hours upon hours of sitting on the train, back and forth from Holland to Germany, he calls me. "Hey man, so I didn't know I was supposed to hop off this train and take another train in Brussels. I'ma be 4 hours late..."

Really... I think I'm going to move here and maybe Jon might as well. Last night, lots of people came out to see Shepard and Z-Trip destroy shit at Paradiso. Now they're on their way to do the same in London and Paris. Good luck boys. It was great to see and meet everybody, y'alls wild!

We've got a little stop-motion / interview / hang-bang / whatever and what-not video we're currently working on. Hopefully we'll have it done by next week!

It's great having Jon on the trip with me, not because I'm lonely and I finally have a travel buddy, but because I get to experience with both hands and I don't have to lug my camera around. woo. Here's how our day went...

Here's me, mixing the barley and wheats and oats to make the delicious premium beverage.

Then Meeting up with Shepard and Z-Trip!

  • AMS I of IV

Getting in town was a success and meeting the Fresh Cotton Boys for dinner was a hoot. Getting back to the hotel room was a bit tricky, like a game with Leisure Suit Larry obstacles. Amsterdam Centraal is a maze, and it's great working abroad with a bunch of knuckle heads from home base. Today, we started on a government approved 60 ft. install at A'Dams Centraal Train Station. Thanks to everybody that helped make this happen! Jonny Fur, behind the camera, took some great shots all day.

Half Way Done... More photos tomorrow folks!

  • GUEST BLOGGER: LE FLASSH

Our friend, Dajana from Adelaide, South Australia of leflassh.com was kind of enough to tell us what she's been feelin' lately:

My favorite thing to wear through-out the seasons is black skinny leg jeans. I have been wearing them for years, and I don't think I will ever get sick of them.

A classic black pair like the first pair shown here (Electric Soul jeans) are perfect and a MUST in every wardrobe. You can dress them up or down, wear them with heels, flats, chunky boots, everything, they always look gorgeous.  A vintage tee and a blazer with some black booties would be my ideal look.

The second pair is a more trendy rocker chic distressed look. I really love these as well because they a more edgy and distressed and plus shredded denim is huge right now so these are also a must for an alternative to the classic pair.

Another thing that I am currently loving is jewelry! I never used to fuss to much over it, but now... PILE UP I say.
The Eye of the Tiger ring is right up my alley, so gorgeous and would rock up any simple outfit.
The Fools Gold necklace caught my eye as soon as I saw it, so so perfect. I love the little gold nugget. You can wear this with everything.

The studded bracelets are another favorite of mine, I'm a huge fan of anything studded and these are great for stacking up on your wrists.

Denim shorts are a staple must in my closet. I wear them almost everyday through-out spring/summer and then for winter I pair them with a pair of black opaque tights.
These Intervention shorts are a perfect wash and they are slightly distressed which makes them even better.

Pair them with these amazing vintage look tee's and your set to go. I love the OG Vintage burnout t-shirt, the logo, the colour, the fabric, it's all fantastic and would look great with cut-off shorts, leggings, black jeans, or even with a bandage black skirt and opaque black tights paired with a pair of rocker boots.

  • A Dumb Broad.

So Instead of trying to impress you with big words such as "paraphernalia" or "pharmaceuticals," I'll wrap up my Southeast Asia trip with a few photos that made the cut. As terrible as I am behind the lens, I'm also terrible in remembering where and when I shot these photos. Oop, and here I go again... let's hold off on the photos for some decent plugs with GLOBAL events going on this week. And then, the shittay photos...

  • Jordan x Fairey x Upperdeck

Everything about Michael Jordan is iconic, from his slam dunks to his signature shoes to his tongue wagging to his number, so he makes a great subject for portraiture because everything about him is laced with cultural significance. You can tell from the look in his eyes, even back when he was at the University of North Carolina, that he was obsessed with greatness, but he also managed to do everything with a sense of flair. I think it’s that combination of intensity and style, and of course his singular talent, that make him the embodiment of a legend.
