OBEY Clothing and 530Medialab got together recently to scheme on our like minded influences.
The outcome is a limited edition T-Shirt based on the 80's skate scene here in Southern California with a nod to the Cramps via lustrous green ink.
This shirt is PHF! (pure hot fire). They will go on sale on our online store this Saturday (5/30 get it), and will likely sell out fast. Grab one while the gettin's good and check out what 530's about while you're at it!

Notre Dame Protest
I found this post on our brethren site OBEY Giant, and felt it relevant to share with all of you.
"We recently got wind that some of Shepard’s Obama illustrations are being used to protest Obama’s upcoming visit to Notre Dame University. The images are being used beside those of slaves and graphic photographs of aborted fetuses. The Center for Bio-Ethical Reform Mid West is driving these billboards on semi-trucks around South Bend, Indiana and flying them from planes above the sky where the University is located. We fully support reproductive rights and in no way allowed the CBR to use these illustrations. While we completely support the first amendment, we are saddened to see people manipulate Shepard’s illustration of our President in this manner."

SWITCH PICK
I'm getting ready to head to San Diego for the weekend to watch one of my high school buddies graduate from San Diego State (a whopping 9 years after we graduated. better late than never i suppose), and figured I needed some new threads for the occasion. I just cruised over to our warehouse to pick up our DUALITY OF HUMANITY TANK and LEAVE NO TRACE SHORTS since it is now officially summer summer summer time, and I'll be in SD, where it's usually hotter than two hookers on a Tuesday. You should cop some fits of your own especially since right now we're offering free shipping on all overs over $50. All you have to do is enter promo code: FREESHIP when you check out, and you're set. Now you may be thinking, 'Hey, why don't I just wait until the sample sale in a few weeks' Well, because if you wait you're likely not going to get all of the gear you're looking for. Sure, we'll still have some prime pieces, but then you'll also have to deal with the long lines in the blistering heat. So do yourself a favor, and head over to our STORE now. Not now, but RIGHT NOW
Don't you just love my photo shopping skills ;)

Record Check #1
In case you didn't know I've been a DJ for quite awhile with the most unfortunate DJ name known to man, Pubes. I'm also a compulsive record buyer. Even as I DJ less as I work more over here at OBEY I cannot stop buying records. I've posted a few things in the past but I'm going to try be more consistent with it for the future. Take it for what it is, most of what I'll post is music I'm into or covers I like. I can't post audio or I would but I suggest trying to track some of the music down. Let start this week off with some 45's.

Scientific mathematical
Gettman in the warehouse is obsessed with the Masons. Can you dig it? Here's a doodle he did of the B. Rock about to spit game from his third eye to his verbal cortex. Rip it like that son!

Witness
A couple weeks ago we showed you a few flix from some of the people that were fortunate enough to make it Coachella. I however was not one of them. Well, I did make it out to the desert, but as for the show it's self things didn't work out as planned. Lucky for me (and you) I have some video footage from one of the many parties that were going down during the weekend. Here's Dj set from our homie Nosaj Thing at the URB Magazine Party shot by 13th Witnessâ„¢.
Now I don't want to turn this into another Coachella post, but more so about 13th Witnessâ„¢. Timmy aka 13th Witnessâ„¢ footage game is on point, and he continues to amaze me with every photo. Some artistic skills he must have gotten from his papa. A real down to earth dude with a different perspective on the world than your average individual. Hypebeast did a feature on him, which can be viewed here. Be sure to check out his site, as well as his blog on Hypebeast, and stay updated with his Twitter and Flickr accounts.-

Coffee with Stones Throw
Got to work this morning and what was on my deck but a fine package from Stones Throw records. This was not the usual kind of package I get consisting of a flaming bag with excrement in it. This package had the new Mayer Hawthorne promo and a bag of Stones Throw coffee made by Intelligentsia in Silverlake. Yes! Thank you Stones Throw.

What is it.....96?
This past weekend some old hardcore bands, Undertow and Unbroken, played a few benefit shows. Friday was a secret show at the Che Cafe in San Diego. Real small room but a great time. Kids packed in for the sing alongs and it was one of the best vibe shows I can ever remember. An old friend of mine Mr. Keith Barney took some shots. Kids hanging from the rafters and all.
Undertow last played in '97
Unbroken hasn't played their home town since '96
So Saturday night they played the real show at the Glasshouse in Pomona. They amazing people at the Glasshouse got us in, and we would like to send out an extra thank you to them. Matt Miller was there with a full photo set up. Strobes and all. His pics are insane. Check out his site HERE.
The Undertow sing alongs were crazy. Pettibone loving it.
Steve Miller Shredding
Look closely and you can see Gettmann's bald head.
1000 Kids...5 bands......amazing weekend.
Some good shows coming up. I'm pretty psyched.

Sess Saturday's
Man I'm sore right now. I haven't been this sore in I don't know how long. I workout almost every day, and this feels worse than that. This weekend I met up with Matt, Hassan, and Tyler for a little skate sess. I can't even tell you how long it's been since I've skated because it's been that long! Matt knew of a nice little ditch not too far from my old crib, so we decided to meet at Hassan's and all roll from there. By the time I skated to Hassan's Matt was already there skating out front. I was quite rusty, so it took some time before getting my sea legs back in order. Hassan was lagging majorly, so we skated out front while we waited for him to get home. After waiting a good hour Tyler eventually came home followed by Hassan a short time after. From there we hoped in Matt's car, and headed to the spot.
The spot was well worth the wait. I don't want to give it away completely, but check Guy Mariano's part in Fully Flared around the 1:34 mark. There was a huge drop-in that shot you down like a torpedo followed by a crazy S-like canal with a few buttery ledges. There was a nice amount of debris in the pathway, but Matt came prepared with broom in hand. After skating for about a half an hour a couple young rippers came through, and commenced to destroying it. It's kinda crazy to see the younger generation busting tricks at speeds I wouldn't have though twice about doing when I was that age. That must be nice.

vintage IRON MAIDEN tour shirt '82
I was just cruising around on ebay for some vintage goodies, and I found this sweet IRON MAIDEN West Coast tour shirt from '82. I am not the only person who found this auction, so there are no deals to be had, but I will continue watching the auction to see how insane people are. Right now, there are 5 days left on this auction, and it's already over $700 !!!!!!!!
check the graphic, it is pretty awesome, but $700 awesome, I don't think so. ENJOY!

For the Record
We've teamed up with LA RECORD to bring you kids some great content in the Features section of the site. Click the Features section on the menu bar and check them out.
Anyway, they're doing a release for the new issue on Monday at the Cha Cha in LA. Apparently I get to play too. I didn't have to bribe them or anything. It's quite the treat because for once I don't have to play records to make try to make people dance. I get too bust out my hidden nerd collection to its fullest. Thanks Charlie and Chris! Also, I got an email from James Callahan today. He's the guy that designed our newest limited series T-shirts. I first learned about James from his art work for the thrash band Municipal Waste from Richmond, VA. Anyway, he's got a new skate magazine out called Born Ugly. Check it out HERE. It's the realness son!
Here's the shirts he did for us, click the photo if you want to grab one of these bad boys.
On Sunday at the Hope Gallery in Echo Park the new Peter Sutherland show is opening, swing on through between 1-4pm. When I was looking for the show flier I came across his Autograf book. I forgot my friend Serf was on the cover except now Serf looks like Jesus.

Advertising by Dick
I had a discussion with some friends about our all time television moments the other day. We discussed the old Randy of the Red Woods and Jimmy the cab driver promos MTV used to run. Great stuff in my opinion but I was surprised no one remember Miller Light's Advertising by Dick. It wasn't even that long ago. For those that know, nuff respect due and for those that didn't, check this out. Thank you Youtube, you're a genius for this one!
One of my favorites but there's tons of them out there!
