  • 5 Days to Work, 1 Whole Day to Play

I'm a little late on the post but better late than never. I played a pretty fresh party this past weekend celebrating TOFER's new show. Everything went down at the old Grand Royal Studios, infamous west coast home of the Beastie Boys and their Atwater Basketball League. X-Large had the space downstairs up until recently and now Han Cholo, manager to MSTRKFT and The Bloody Beetroots Adrian Martinez has a office, some editing and production bays upstairs Guy Logan runs and I'm sure a few others I'm missing, but can't think of at this point. I always get a trip walking in there because of all the classic stuff that hasn't changed since they inhabited the space. I don't have a picture but the main part of the building is the basketball court (which became the dancefloor) they put in on the 2nd floor. This little memento was in one of the rooms.

A frame over Adrock's tag on the drywall. There were bars all over but the kegs were in the room this was found.

All the players were in attendance. I was psyched cause it's rare you get to catch up with so many friends in one place.

    Jamal and Houseshoes

Rick Rodney and the infamous Haycock. Check Rick's photography out over HERE. And check Chris's party, The Do-Over out if you're in LA this Summer.

Parrot sighting. Damn Reza's gotten salty over the last few years but good to have him back in LA for a bit. Check his blog HERE.

DJ Hoff played right after me and DJed for his co-conspirator Spank Rock on their upcoming Mobroder record.

Han Cholo and Naeem (Spank Rock) Thanks to Brandon and Guy Logan for letting this event happen.

Amanda Blank. Check for her upcoming record out soon.

And a parting shot from the next morning in West Hollywood. This dude was getting up everywhere over there and I thought this was such a classic tag.

Also, if you're in LA come by Dance Right this Thursday.

  • DA BIG APPLE

The Big Apple is flooded with amazing art shows these days, and with all the activities I have planned for my trip to NYC this Saturday, there definitely won't be time for Home Depot or that trip to Bed Bath & Beyond.

The first stop the GTI will be making is, JonathanLeVineGallery, to see the PHIL FROST exhibition.  I am a big fan of Phil's work, and can't wait to see everything up close and personal cause it looks like something I don't want to miss.  The show runs through May 2nd, so get off the internet and go see the show!

The 2nd stop is, Nancy Margolis Gallery, where I will get to see a sweet solo exhibition of work by Mel Kadel.  If you are not familiar with her work, take Clinton Sparks' advice and GET FAMILIAR!  A couple years ago Pubes and Mike T. took me to see a show she had in Santa Monica with her dude, Travis Millard, and I was blown away.  Mel Kadel, how the hell are you?  Let's be friends so I can buy some art from you.  Your Penpal, Andy.

AND, LAST BUT NOT LEAST.....I have just learned that Saturday night is the Opening Reception for an exhibition by our good friends Shelter & Ivory Serra at FUSE Gallery.  The reception is from 7-10pm, so make sure you are at this show supporting Shelter and Ivory, cause they are some righteous dudes.

  • ADORN

I'm a little dazed from the weekend so I'll just post something small for now. Hypebeast has had an interview up with our friend Eric Elms. Check it out HERE. Eric started as a screen printer for Shepard when he was still living in San Diego and has done a lot of work for OBEY in the past. I always remember the first time I saw Eric's work was seeing these Biggie and Tupac lamp bases Shepard had in his office. He's also done a lot of my DJ design as well.

    Eric Elm's site HERE

A few he did for OBEY in I believe '04 or '05.

A few for the self proclaimed legend DJ Pubes.

  • OBEY x Stereo x MFG t-shirt/poster

Hey guys, today we dropped the OBEY x Stereo limited poster and tee designed by Matt Goldman (MFG) and Shepard Fairey. The initial poster offering sold out immediately, but we set a few aside to be sold on our STORE section of the site.  In addition to the poster release we've also dropped 100 t-shirts featuring the same sleek design. As with the original release the poster will likely sell out fast, so head over to the STORE section of the site before they're gone.

  • Ace in the Hole

I took my friend Pennie from North Carolina to Palm Springs for some good old fashioned R&R. This was her first trip to California.  Obviously we stopped at In-N-Out on the way.  Delicious.

My friend Jay said I HAD to stay at the new Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.

Good call.  For $89 plus tax, we got a nice little room that made me feel like I was being fancy.   They had Bandit Wine and Hav-A-Chips in the mini bar!  We didn't use it but they provided a walking stick (?) and some awesome hippie robes to wear around the premises.

Other pluses at the Ace: 24 hour pool and hot tub, adult sno-cones, photobooth, bikes to ride for free...

    And this guy...

    Living the dream.

My friends showed up on their junk shop trip across America!  Tourist shot!

We left the Ace and got pulled pork in downtown Palm Springs.  Who knew they had great BBQ in the desert?

  • The epic OBEY x Stereo Release party

Last night was ticey, so tight and so icey. Thanks to Stereo for the ill support, good times had by all. I'll post some more pics next week but this is what I have on hand.

Chris Pastras and Shepard with the photo ops before it got too hectic. Summer must be close cause I'm seeing a lot of Coronas in that pic.

Clint Peterson (a 6th Street Roller like myself), Shep and Benny Fairfax pose it up. Clint looks like he's on his way to glory. Congrats to Benny as well.

Gaslamp Killer, Han Cholo and Sawyer's mom.

If you made it this far in the post I might as well let you know we'll be releasing some of the hidden posters from the release in our web store on Tuesday at 2pm PST. Shhh! It's the Shepard x MFG collab poster son.

We made a few shirts for the release party. Most were given out at the event but we've got a few for you right at our web store on Tuesday, same time as the posters. Only 100 made of these total and most were given away last night so act fast if you want one.

  • One State At A Time

IOWA MARRIAGE NO LONGER LIMITED TO ONE MAN, ONE WOMAN.

The Iowa Supreme Court this morning upheld a Polk County judge’s 2007 ruling that marriage should not be limited to one man and one woman.

The ruling, viewed nationally and at home as a victory for the gay rights movement, means Iowa’s 5,800 gay couples can legally marry in Iowa beginning April 24.

There are no residency rules for marriage in Iowa, so the rule would apply to any couple who wanted to travel to Iowa.

Today’s decision makes Iowa the first Midwestern state, and the third in the country, to allow same-sex marriages.

  • Midnight Posse

Speaking of glass. Since we had such a huge response with the last round of mugs we decided to drop another this time using our Midnight Posse graphic.  Of course we've shot another promo video this time with Vince Blomi as our host.

You can get your mug through our online STORE now, but you're going to have to act fast because if you remember the last round sold out as soon as we put them up.  And while you're in the store pick up some of Holiday collection, which is currently 50% off, but only for a limited time.
