• Carpool Posse

A few of us here live in Los Angeles area, and make the commute to Santa Ana every day.  When we can, a few of us carpool together, so we can take advantage of the carpool lane. If we're lucky, it's about a 45 minute ride, but depending on traffic you're looking at any where from 45 minutes to an hour 15 min drive.  On our drive we see a lot of random odd things on the freeway, but this one takes the cake for the week.

I didn't even know you could tow a helicopter.

  • CBS-ness!

A week in Vegas isn't good for anybody. We're back from that mess of a town and back to the business at hand. More later but first check out this interview CBS did on Shep. I like this video because if you pay attention you get an idea of how he works. Notice the rubylith (that red stuff he's cutting). Old school!

  • Put Some South in Your Mouth!

I just got back from my winter holiday in Raleigh, North Carolina, my home sweet home.  My first night, at 3am, I went to the Waffle House. I just recently learned that the Waffle House chain stretches all the way out to California, but it will always feel southern to me.  If you've never been, please stop next road trip.

They are known for the plethora of toppings they will unload onto your hash browns.  "All the Way" scares me a little bit.  I prefer the grits and the BLT, add pickles.

I could go on and on about all of the deliciousness in North Carolina.  Chicken and biscuits!  Barbecue!  Sweet Tea!  Cheap beer!  But the best is my daily Cup of Joe.  Espresso, coffee, ice, sugar, milk.  Heaven.

I got my first job when I was sixteen at an independent record store called Schoolkids Records.  They are still around, one of the only good record stores left in NC/the world.  I spent a good portion of my holiday helping them move to a new space and then I made it look pretty.

One of my new favorite dudes: Brad from Megafaun/Rosebuds/etc.  If you are ever in Raleigh, go to Schoolkids and see Brad and Ric and the dudes. They will show you some good records to buy and will make you feel good about life because they are just that awesome.

Schoolkids features the artwork of Brian Walsby.  I remember loving his stuff when I was younger.  How could I forget??  Brian has drawn his way into tons of zines, does cover art, cartoons, caricatures and other random awesome stuff.  Also he has played drums in lots of good bands and is a super nice dude.

    Find more Walsby HERE!
