• Not Just Boys Fun

I’ve been really busy lately with quitting my day job, perfecting my Pilates moves and going to Texas. When I went to Texas I went to Fun Fun Fun Fest with my bestie Donna.

It was in a grimy park downtown and there was lots of dust. And lots of old dudes.  And by old dudes I mean dudes that used to rock all the time but don't get to rock so much anymore because they got 9-5 jobs or had kids or whatever.  There was a punk stage, a hip hop and dj stage, an indie rock stage and a comedy stage. Some skateboarding.  Burgers.  Coffee.  Thrift store in a tent.  Free ice cream from the Ice Cream Man.

Some of the bands I saw were: Dead Milkmen-made my day; Bad Brains-coolest dudes ever; The National-chills; Municipal Waste-bros; Black Angels-new favorite band; Bouncing Souls-Jersey; St. Vincent-lovely. Tons more played.  Good stuff.  All in all it was a pretty fun time except for the dusty boogers.

    Wasted.

Devlin & Darko played afterwards at the Beauty Bar.  OMG!

I met a new friend in Austin named Ian Orth. If Austin were a high school, Ian would be the big man on campus. Listen to some podcast action courtesy of Mr. Orth. It’s quite fun.

I finally made it over to 826LA East! I kept meaning to go to the original 826LA but Venice is soooooo far away! 826 is an organization of non-profit writing and tutoring centers with locations in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Ann Arbor, Seattle and Boston. 826LA East is extra special because it has a Time Travel Mart with all kinds of strange and wonderful things. I picked up the following treats:

    Pioneer Pencil & Fishy Notepad

    All Known Metal Bands book.

So good.  I think Malicious Grind is my favorite so far.

  • Let Freedom Ring

Evening boys n girls I hope you're enjoying our newly revamped site. For those that don't know I'm SWITCHâ„¢, and I (along with the rest of the crew) will be keeping you updated with the latest debauchery with the posse.

I sit next to Roams who is currently overseas checking in on our European accounts, or at least so he says because this is what he was doing as he was getting ready to leave...

When he's not primping himself or filling the office with "incense" smoke I'm able to get a little work done editing photos for our online STORE...

Anywho, I wanted to let you guys know about our pop-up shop conjoined with Philly's infamous UBIQ.   Pubes is from Philly and is good buddies with the owner, so this was good opportunity for the both of us.  There will be an opening reception Saturday, December 6th with OBEY DJ's Pubes and Roam on the one's & two's.  To commemorate the event we will drop a limited edition UBIQ x OBEY t-shirt, Let Freedom Ring.  With only 125 tees being produced they'll like go fast, so get there early.  The pop-up shop will be open until just after New Years, and is located at 1509 Walnut Street Philadelphia, PA 19102.

  • Let's go Philly!

Me and Roams are headed to Philly next week to get wild. Won't you come get wild with us? Tell your friends, tell your parents, tell your neighbors. I'm ready to down some Yuenglings and head out to Delasandros for a cheesesteak so why don't you join me. It's gonna be bigger than the Phillies World Series parade. Well, maybe not that big but it'll be pretty freaking fun.

Also, I just realized my passport expires in 2 days so I've been rushing around getting that in order. Busted over to the post office to get everything squared away, got my new pic and then reality set in. Damn I feel old. Here's a quick progression of over the past 10 years, ala government photography. Reminds of those meth ads.

  • Who's World Is It?

    it's mine, it's mine, it's mine...

Lot's going on with OBEY Giant news, with the release of a new, supportive LOVE UNITES poster and Shep being super heated about his posters going up on EBAY at a ridiculous amount these days. Supply and Demand is a bitch-ass, but we're definitely keen on serving to the people that mean the most... the nerds that really like the stuff. A big thanks to those that hang on to the posters, and a bigger fuck you to those pesky PARASITES reselling shit.

Something that Giant hasn't put up yet is the new poster of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk done by Shep marking the 70th Anniversary of Ataturk's death. A project, headed by Selim Varol of Artempus from Germany, the artwork will also be featured on the new cover of Bant Magazine.

For some reason I can't imbed the video... so you must click HERE to view!

On to other things, getting outta Melbourne was a tough one, considering the final few days of mutating and mutilating. Thank you to Mat, Caine (The Heist), and Misa (Schwipe) for showing me that Melbourne is a bit better than Sydney, and the US Dollar goes a long way in that neck of the woods. Highlight reel...

I was also able to head over to the Revolver bar, where you can see some OG OBEY, Banksy, and Chris Johanson art. A really cool, grimey bar that stays open 24 hrs, 7 days... No Day off's for these mutants.

Back In the Hood, we got this little party for Mike Kershnar at OBEY Radio... Stop by, have a couple dranks with us...

    .back to work, doosh.

  • stage 5 mutation, complete.

Hello to the buxom babes out there.

Hopefully you've checked out our STORE to pilfer thru the latest we have in our possession right now. I know lots of you have constantly mailed us regarding this, so take advantage, and get everything you need for Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and my favorite, Satanista season. Look Dapper for your God, son!

It sure is friday, my good woman, and cot damn... it took a while for the week to turn our direction again.

Still in Melbourne. Workin' and Lurkin'. And so far, i've seen 4 random midgets, including one that was pretty dang cute. She had a regular sized head with a 4 footer's body. I was aroused and grossed out at the same time. I also saw a guy with no arms eat with his feet... now that's something to be proud of...

I went to get a pack of smokes, and they've got these things on the boxes.. which is pretty amazing. I asked the people here what they felt about em, and they absolutely love em. They even have their own photo preferences when they're at the store buying em. They say, "Oh, i got the aborted fetus one, can I get the mangled teeth one?"

Nightlife sure is alive and kicking in these here neck of the woods. Bars stay open late, and if it weren't for my jet lag, i'd be out partying til the panties drop. But the weekend's here, and I'm all rested up, so we'll see where fate takes me.

  • more frumundah!

I'm sayin' woooooooo. Off a 15 hour flight, refreshed and ready to take on this country head-on called, Australia. Apparently, the Summertime Shine got the memo that I was coming over, and took a vacation to Tasmania, and replaced Melbourne's weather with it's evil, cold-hearted cousin, Tsunami Tang Juice. TTJ, you sure are a bad dude, but that ain't gonna hold me down, eh-eh. Skankin' my way down unda!

Before I continue with my Escapade with the Aussies, I had some photos in my camera (really Jon's camera) from the Sound Downtown fest that I thought needed some love. Thank yous to Shepard, Amanda F., Matt Goldman, Pubes, Furburger, the Van Hoys, Nicky and everybody who made it down, and grubbed some delicious murder burgers at the pad last weekend. Next year, I promise to be more involved and less grumpy. Here are some ditty's to make you rub your titties...

Really, it was an awesome night. More photos from my current situation, but until then, here are more awesome nights... Let's go!

  • Santa Ana winds and shredfest

Ras Trent might describe this past weekend as irie. Lots of trees burning and many a' good bands to be seen. Unfortunately for Ras Trent, these burning trees were headed towards peoples houses. Really a scary thing and I'm not trying to make light of this. There's fires blazing all over Southern California right now in case you don't watch the news or live under a big pile of rocks. I didn't get many good pics but headed down the 5 towards Santa Ana was pretty surreal.  The sky was bright orange and gray ash was landing on my car. Even the 57 and the 91 got shut down. But once we got to Santa Ana we had quite the enjoyable afternoon and evening planned, the 1st ever Sound Downtown music festival.

This and all the pics in this post are from none other than resident OBEY photographer and avid tank top wearer Jon Furlong.

Once at the show I got to play with some really fun bands. My first set was super short and sucked anyway. They had a brand new mixer and it wasn't yet set to play so it took some tweaking to get started. Shepard got caught up in the traffic from the fires and missed his daytime set so I got to play that one too. I kind of felt like a tool DJing because the bands were so on point. Playing in a band is way cooler than being a DJ. I need to start playing drums again.

OBEY friends Free the Robots played a bunch of new songs and got wild. It was nice to get to sit in the seats of the theatre and see Chris and Phil getting loose.

These little dudes are Zechs Marquise. Word on the streets is they have relations certain people in other bands like.. say... Mars Volta. Doesn't matter though, they don't need to brag of something like that because they shred perfectly well on their own. Reminded me of some weird Prog rock. The 2nd song they played made me think of this band NEU! The little guy on the left came out about 3 songs into the set and played these really dark horn parts. I'm not gonna lie, I'm now a fan.

Laying it down for the babes in the crowd. Later on I see these guys checking out the bass player from The Entrance Band. Entrance have this girl bass player that kills it and these young men got a real kick out of it.

Next up was The (International) Noise Conspiracy. I haven't seen these guys play in about 5 years but they are holding it down as always. It's a really entertaining show with lots of mic throws and costumes and jumping. I wonder how many times Dennis their singer hits himself in the head with that mic. Even ran into a friend Sam who was tour managing and helping the dudes out. Check Sam's band out Night Horse.

Don't have any pics of The Entrance Band play but they were awesome. Real heavy psych rock 4 piece. The opened with probably their most well known track Grim Reaper and settled into a nice set after that. I headed over to the Crosby because I was late for the Dance Right edition we were doing over there. I rolled up and there was a huge line. When I walked in kids were going nuts. Shepard had the place going wild and it wasn't even 11pm yet.

Overall, I think the city of Santa Ana had to be pretty pumped on the turnout. From what I saw there was a lot of quality acts not just a bunch of things built around hype. Hoorah Santa Ana!

Until next time, keep it sleezy.

  • It's The New.

    Welcome everybody,

Take a seat and click around (if you will) to the new and improved OBEY Clothing site, courtesy of all the hard working staff here in the bat cave. Lot's of information will be shared through this medium called the "interweb" and we're filling it with the highest quality jelly only your 'mom and pops' donut shop can offer. Again, I've said this before, but feel free to contact us on any hiccups within the mainframe.

ONE MAJOR change on this site is the new Online STORE, located on the top menu bar of the home page. Pretty dang exciting... eh? Get your most current collection direct, along with past favorites that are hard to dig for. It's all here...

Also, please excuse the weird photo sizing for all the previous posts.. Those are extracted right from the old site, so some photo's may or may not transferred too well. But besides that, we're still us, and you'rev still you, so put one in the air and check out the new menu categories we have up on the top of the page.

    Explore, comrades...

But back to our non-sensible talking selves, we've got a few thang thangs going on for you to check out. This weekend we're getting mad goo goo in Santa Ana. When I say goo goo, that means it'll be extra ditty with gravy on top. And hey, I think it's about that time to break out the BBQ and grill up some meats and veggies for anybody attending...

The first weekend of President Elect Obama was a fun one, i tell ya. Keep up the good work, people!

so yeah, the parties were nothing short of excellent all around. Move over running man and electric slide, horizontal dancing is the new craze...

An amazing B-Day BBQ at the GLK's house, last Saturday. Somehow, a supergroup formed that day. Not sure what the name of the band is...

Lykke Li made her appearance at Danceright last week as well. Marry me, lady.

Oh, and before i forget, please come out to the crosby edition of DANCERIGHT this saturday. You will not be dissapointed!

The Santa Ana Danceright edition is part of a bigger festival that night called Sound Downtown... International Noise Conspiracy anyone???

and of course.... Count em down... looking forward to seeing you, Jerry.
