  • Hella-Tweeeeins!!

Halloween's a corky lil diddy for us Americans, and last year, i had the opportunity to attend a Halloween party in London. Their perception of our coveted holiday was a bit weird... I went as a scuba diver, along with Dan as a woman, and jon as Carl Winslow from Family Matters. Well, when we got to the jump off, everybody, and i mean everybody just had blood and makeup on, wearing their regular clothes. Now I would've clowned on em, but there was just so many of em. So we actually ended the night being clowned on with no ladies to bring back to the flat. boo...

This year is different tho... We're in the good ol' U.S. of A. and god damnit, this shit's OK! Yesterday, I had to stop by Shepard's office to snap a few pics for an editorial in Staf Mag. Lot's of things happening at Studio Number One...

Thanks to Ernie and Phil for the help yesterday. Your weird relationship towards each other works, no on prop 8. Also, I met this dude Spencer who apparently is the little baby on the Nirvana Nevermind album cover. how weird... but welcome aboard, my man. He's now officially our Stencil Dude.

So, after work, Pubes and I had a craving for some greasy ass funnel cakes and fresh strawberry jam. Where else, but Knotts Berry Farm? Hi Toe!

Oooh.. we meet again.... I want to buy you sooo bad. Whoever the owner is, i'll give you 15k for it... and throw in a bill murray cut-out. Shit's sew tite...

Be carefull this weekend, and stay away from the weird, generic candy. Shit'll make you croak, son!

Got home pretty late, and found Chris, OD'ing on that purp.

And Belle, cleaning up the evidence...

    PARTY!!!

  • ADDICTION de Juan.

So last night was the Jane's Addiction Reunion tour at Dance Right LA. We've got two people reporting from the party... First to bat, Erin (our ladies designer)...

"Last night I headed to the Ever store opening on Melrose.  http://www.ever-us.com/ The store looks amazing- but the line was so crazy I couldn't even get inside.  Congrats to my pal Jamie- she's the women's designer- and she's doing an incredible job and the women's line has never looked better!"

"Then I headed downtown to La Cita to check out the show..  More lines..."

So.. Erin had video.. and we meant to put it up, but due to Record Label kookiness, we'll save the hassle for them and leave it off. Thank you Label Execs... You'll be out of a job soon, and your industry is shit. That's all.

Now, up... My man, Steven Puberty of New Jersey Decent.

"Janes Addiction played at Dance Right last night. It was a mess to get people in. The Fire Marshall came and changed the capacity from 390 to 157. They got rid of all guest lists and just honored the bands list.  I realized my friends are way cooler than the bands friends because the crowd was mostly comprised of industry douchebags and some minor celebrities but.... the show was pretty freaking amazing. Perry had minimal talk about politics which was nice. I didn't go there to hear his views on the world, if I wanted those views I'd talk to NBA super coach Phil Jackson, sike! Navarro actually was shredding pretty heavy on guitar but he still creeps me out. The key though was Eric Avery. Dude looks like the only normal one and probably the only one that is into good music still. He's like the Michael Anthony of the group, dude really holds it down. The set was not what I expected either, they played a great set for a small crowd not like going to some festival and just cranking out the standard hits. I had flashbacks of grade school during the show."

Yo Shep! Deer in the headlights.

    Yo Entourage, smile!

Yo Navarro, get some super glue for those fingers because although you're creepy (but hot chicks love you), you shred more than I ever knew. And get a shirt while you're at it.

Yo it's pimp 'Silky' Farrell and the dude of dudes Eric Avery.

Perry had to get his picture with Pubes.

"So seriously Shepard, you should check out this guy running for President named Obama."

Look in the back. That's drummer Stephen Perkins. That dude kills it at life and the drums.

For those that couldn't get in. Blame it on all the A&R's and Label Managers, viva la raza!

  • What A Bust..

This week has been the bee's knees. I got asked to DJ at Steve Berra and Eric Koston's The Berrics (www.theberrics.com) for a private event they did where Darker My Love played.

Ran into some old friends. The main man Vern, Philly transplant was in attendance. Gotta be psyched on that Phillies win Vern.

My old roommate Dave Young came through. There is talk of a book on Dave's famous warehouse on 6th Street. I lived there for about 2 years when I first moved to LA. Everyone from the Melvins to HR from Bad Brains has played there. Dave would ride little kids bikes as he said. Pretty famous for his part in Nowhere Fast. Also, Shepard screened his posters there for about 5 years.

You know it's a special event when my brother and his wife show up. They have a 5 week old at home but had my mom on babysitting duties. Ma dukes taking one for the team!

I was super beat at work the next day but had to rally for game 5 of the Phillies/ Dodgers series. Thanks Dodger Dave for the ticket hookup!  My brother and I were on the fence, we're from South Jersey and the Phillies were our team growing up but I've been to way more Dodgers games than Phillies games. Either way the Dodgers got smoked. What's up with Furcal and his crappy throws to 1st? Then the throw into the backstop, seriously? Looked like the Badnews Bears at one time. Word is in Philly 610 is getting all emotional reminiscing about growing up a Phillies fan.

    Rally in the ravine.

The OBEY Squad at the game.

I saw the Dodger's lose and all I got was the this lousy cupcake. They were handing these out on the way out of the stadium.

    2 weeks til Halloween!

    CHANGE THE GAME!!

We all know about the shadiness of the recounts, the issues the ballots, and general election fraud…  So here is some new info that might be worth doing some investigation if you are voting absentee.  We are not half-stepping at all on this election and the key to change is knowledge.  Get Informed!

    VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ

The story is all over Progressive Talk Radio today about the MCain campaign sending absentee ballot applications to registered democrats or people that have donated to Obama’s campaign.  These ballots are deliberately misleading and have postage paid return addresses that are for an election clerk that is outside of your city or town… (continued)

What this will end up doing is either having your vote not counted, or if you return one of these, they will cite you for election fraud, saying that you already voted absentee. These ballots are only being
sent out in ‘purple states’ and this is a big deal. This is called voter caging, and is a huge problem.

The McCain campaign is stealing this election as we speak.  Please get this information out to as many people as you can, and tell anyone you know who has received one of these ballots that they need to contact their city election clerk or the supervisor of elections immediately.  Also call the local media and let them know what is going on.

The main stream media is never going to cover this so we have to depend on our ground campaign to get the word out to our voters.

  • Weekend Gat-Down!

Oh man, I'm an idiot... but this guy's below is the worst.

The life of a transient sure is good, i tell ya. Before the weekend started, Chris here at the office hooked some monstrous tickets for me and a guest to veg out and mutate. So many things happened at once, I couldn't even capture everything in my little picture machine. What a joke (pointing at myself)....

But, before i get into the guts of it all. I wanna pre-warn you on this weekend's festivities... Flying Lotus along with Ras G and our very own GLK will be at OBEY Radio, October 10th for the one and only Brainfeeder Records showcase. Capacity at this venue is a little over 200, and that's when everybody's squeezed in there like a can of sardines. Please arrive early and stay late... it's going down all nite...

So... Saturday morning... woke up around 2p to head over to the Detour fest in Downtown LA. On our way to the show, the buildings engulfed the sunny skies...

After Detour, took a cab to Studio One for the Park Life show...

Batty Boy Marquis, back in LA for a bit...

    Birthday Pubes...

Mutant Huck and I hopped on the #2 bus to some other thingy downtown...

Free The Robots got caught slippin' too... (don't worry, nothing was snorted up... good clean fun for all!

Also ran into Strong and Haycock (Do-over Sundays)... throwing a few back...

You know you're in Downtown Los Angeles when...

    Trees aren't even safe... adooo!
